New Moon in Leo~Meeting Life's Edges with Courage

Dearest souls,

I hope you are all doing well on this wonderful Venus day with the alluring new moon in Leo.

I say alluring because there are a lot of interesting undercurrents taking place from an astrological perspective.

We currently have Mercury retrograde in Leo. This can, and often does, entail the usual tech glitches, miscommunications and delays. When the planet of communication is in Leo, we can feel some ambivalence and uncertainty when it comes to expressing our truest passions and our hearts deepest desires.

This is where we must walk and sit with this edge. This edge, this little voice that might be whispering self-doubt into our ear, saying things like “you are not good enough, you are not talented enough, or nobody will buy what you create”…

This little voice isn’t here to cause harm, but to draw our attention to parts of us that still need deep, unconditional love. The type of love that can only be emitted from the heart of a lion.

The heart of the lion is the bravest of all hearts. It displays courage in a moment’s notice and knows when to sit and wait quietly. It also knows when a deep belly roar is required.

The heart of the lion is connected to the third eye; it is wise, discerning, intuitive. It knows which approach is needed when for the heart of the lion is a master in its own right.

And so, under this new moon in Leo, when the sky is dark, the heart of the lion asks; Can you sit with your edges? Can you sit with the discomfort that might be bubbling within your chest? Can you sit with it all, holding it with a tender, loving gaze?

For edges are portals, initiations, moving us beyond our current threshold.

We need discomfort and we need edges, otherwise we would never grow.

Edges show us where our comfort ends, and our discomfort begins. At this threshold, we are asked to embrace courage and move forward with our head held high and our chest wide open with pride.

We can sit with discomfort and bear witness to our edges, understanding that they not only offer us endless opportunities for growth, but also gift us moments to build deep, soul connections, grounded in mutual reciprocity, genuine love, and heart.

I've had recent experiences with two people in my life where we had to sit and move through edges and the blessing was that we got to do so live, together.

Both moments were deeply uncomfortable at first, but the reward on the other side was a thousand times worth it because our connection deepened. We softened. We breathed. We allowed more love, compassion and understanding to flow in.

And this, this moment of pure raw humanness experienced with another, is truly what it is all about.

We think of courage as the force that allows us to turn our dreams into reality (and this is often true), but what if under this new moon, courage is the tide that gently carries us towards more wholesome love? Deeper bonds and stronger intimacy?

Though we have a lot of planets in fire, think Neptune, Saturn, the Sun, the Moon and Mercury, we are being encouraged to soften. To take a pause. To slow down. Both Neptune and Saturn are currently retrograde in Aries. Though we may desire fast, quick forward momentum, now is not necessarily the time. Rather, we are being encouraged to take a break and to look back upon ourselves and our connections with others.

Are our relationships something we are proud of? Or are they something we feel guilt or shame about?

As we reflect on this, and hold seeds for the future as new moons are for setting intentions, we must fully integrate where we’ve been to know where we are going.

If we want more love, deeper connections with those around us, we must take the brave steps to do so. If you haven’t told a loved one you love them today, maybe reaching out and doing so is exactly the seed you need to be planting.
