2024 was a very heavy year for a lot of us. There were a lot of challenges, obstacles, and hardships. This is because we were in a year 8.
Though the number 8 represents the Strength card in the tarot, it also coincides with Saturn. And so, it makes sense that the main theme for us as a collective last year revolved around Saturnian themes such as karma, time, discipline, patience, and resilience.
Saturn is all about harsh soul lessons so that we may emerge in our own authority. He achieves this through different ways for each and every one of us, depending on where he sits, and in which sign he is in in our respective birth chart.
As a collective, Saturn shifted retrograde into Pisces last year. This was not an easy transit (and is still difficult!), as Saturn seeks to create order, stability, and structure and can't seem to find its footing when in a water sign. Pisces, the sign of spirituality and past lives, rules over our intuition and psychic senses. Pisces is also ruled by Neptune, lord of illusion, mental health, and dreams.
And so, we could have felt disillusioned by life last year, not seeing any point in what it is we were doing, creating, building, or seeking to achieve. We might have had deep moments of despair and experienced various mental health struggles as well. This was to forge and sharpen our spiritual strength and endurance.
Though Saturn might have had a hard time in Pisces alongside Neptune, he was able to help clear the illusions, the myths, and the false beliefs that have been holding us back.
Saturn in Pisces descended within the collective psyche to facilitate a purge of outdated beliefs. This purge was not easy and was felt and experienced physically for many.
This is Saturn's work. He works to clear our path ahead so that we may emerge as the authority figure we are. Though Saturn represents the father (and on occasion the grandfather in a birth chart), he ultimately seeks to empower us. And this Saturnian empowerment is not a flimsy form of power but a raw, authentic form of power rooted in the hardness of the earth, capable of enduring the harshest of weather conditions.
And so, as we bask in the first week or so of the new year, a lot of us are still completing Saturn’s purge. This purge is light now because we did the work last year.
We are now being encouraged to move ahead with renewed optimism because 2025 is full of big, beautiful changes and transformation.
This year, we will be shifting from last year’s dragon energy (with us until February) to embrace the power of the snake. Dragon spirit, along with the Strength card and Saturn, forged and shaped our character and inner resilience when it came to challenges and adversity.
Now, radical change is upon us, but this is a change we can endure because we have the resilience and strength to let it all go. We have the necessary strength to shed our skin once more so that we may reveal an even deeper layer of who we truly are.
Snake spirit as a guide is more subtle than dragon spirit. Dragon spirit takes up space, can be loud and domineering. Dragon spirit commands attention and can have an imposing presence. This is the energy we needed to break karmic cycles, set boundaries, and truly use our throat chakra, along with our root and solar plexus, to express who we really are.
We sometimes had to breath fire to let others know they crossed a line.
Now, we are going to be shifting into the subtle realm of the snake. The snake is quiet, steady, and calm. Snakes don’t make much noise, and you wouldn’t even know they were there. And so, they do their work behind the scenes and in the shadows. This is the energy we are being called to step into, the silent transformation of change.
Snake spirit will guide us in shedding the layers of our "false" self—those aspects we may not even realize we’ve been clinging to. It will gently encourage us to let go of what’s holding us back to drop the masks that have kept us from shining our unique, authentic expression out into the world.
Snake spirit will encourage us to dive into the shadows once more so that we may emerge victorious. And snake spirit will not be alone in doing this sacred work, for we also have the Hermit as our guiding archetype.
The Hermit, represented by the number 9 in the tarot, is all about the journey.
He is often depicted as an old man in a dark place with only the light of his lantern to guide him. His lantern does not illuminate the path ahead but merely his next step. This is the energy we are being called to master this year; can we take a step forward without knowing where the next step lies? Can we trust that as we move forward, the next step will magically appear beneath our feet, and all we truly need is faith? Faith in ourselves, faith in our path, faith in the divine?
Faith, patience, hope, and trust will be the key themes for us this year. We will be tested when it comes to our faith and our vision for the life we aspire to have. The old man, though not being able to see the path ahead, trusts that there is indeed a path, forged by his soul for him and only him. We must do the same.
We must trust that our soul has uniquely crafted a path meant for us and that the path will reveal itself at the opportune moment and that for now, as the staircase remains veiled in shadow, we are called to trust—knowing that the darkness holds the key to the light yet to come.
Last year, the guiding energies of Leo (represented by the Strength card) and Capricorn (ruled by Saturn) led the way (and these natives experiences the most change). But in 2025, the focus shifts to the Hermit, ruled by Virgo. As such, Virgo and Virgo-dominant placements will be at the forefront this year.
For Virgos in particular, 2025 will usher in powerful transformations. The snake, along with your planetary ruler, Chiron—the wounded healer—will be your guides and allies. Now many associate Virgo with Mercury, but in truth, Virgo is ruled by Chiron. Thus, this year will be one centered on deep soul healing and regeneration. Virgo-dominant natives will be called to face their wounds, examine them, and allow the graceful, transformative power of the snake to guide them toward healing and renewal.
Virgo energy will emerge as powerful and transformational guides, healers, coaches—what have you—by the end of this year, for they will have completed their sacred initiation and will be passing the baton on to Gemini (1-The Magician), Sagittarius (10-Wheel of Fortune-Jupiter), and Leo (19-The Sun), who will be the next wave of change and healing for the collective in 2026. 2026 will be a big, bright, and beautiful year, but first, the healing must occur.
This is Chiron’s work. We must suck out the remaining poison still lingering within our wounds. Though Virgoans will be the primary focus this year, we all have Virgo somewhere in our birth chart, and we all have Chiron. And so the house in which Virgo sits and the house where Chiron sits will be illuminated and activated for healing.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 1st house, healing around your sense of self will be imminent and actualized this year. You may have felt as though there was an invisible splinter in your side, unable to reach it, find it, or remove it. This is the year where you find it. You heal it and ultimately release it into the flames of change to never be burdened by this again, for this is the snake’s offering to you now: suck out the poison, feel its stringent taste upon your mouth once more, and finally cast it into the fire. You will emerge healed and whole like never before.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in your 2nd house of finances, values, and possessions, this whole area of your life will be made over once more. You might find that the old ways of doing things (making money anyone?) don’t serve you nor do they do justice upon your soul. And so, you will leave it all behind to embrace new, innovative ways of approaching money. You might explore healing money blocks and become a beacon of inspiration for others in your own right in this area. Allow Chiron/Virgo to heal your relationship to money this year and see how it completely transforms your life for the better.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 3rd house, watch how your communication, your unique soulful expression, radically changes this year, especially when it comes to revealing who you are within your local community. If you thought you were expressing yourself authentically now, just wait. The real you is still emerging. You might feel that you have a good handle on who you are becoming, but spirit is going to be throwing some curveballs at you in the form of people. These curveballs are designed to sharpen your focus; why are you really here? What are you being called to create? Illuminate? These are the questions that will be your guideposts when the going gets tough (because it will get tough at some point or another, but you have the necessary skills to endure. Lean on Capricorn if necessary). This year might seem like a rollercoaster for you, but you will be better for it. It is a year of heavy change but changes that will ultimately lead you where you are meant to be. If you don’t like where you are planted, move. You are sovereign after all.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 4th house, 2025 will be a challenging year given that this placement revolves around the home life and family. Prepare to have your relationships with various family members transform and change for the better or explode in your face and fall away (they were never meant to go the distance anyways). Embrace compassion and grace… your internal, private world is going to be going through a heavy death and rebirth. You will be purging a lot, and I do mean a lot of ancestral baggage that you didn’t even know you had. Be patient. Stay the course and don’t give up. Call upon your ancestors if things get too heavy; they can help lighten the load. Have faith and trust in your path, you are destined to be a healer in this life, and this is your first initiation among many.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 5th house, your whole world will seemingly change (and maybe fall apart), but this will be for the better. You might lose your job, and your romantic relationship might just fizzle out and end. You are being called to enter into the alchemical flames of transformation. You are being distilled so that your true self, your soulful self, may emerge. You might have been experiencing some confusion and feeling unsure about your path and why you are here. The sun will be illuminating the truth about who you are. Allow his flames to burn and purify your spirit. The light is your initiator, and all falsities will be removed. Though this year might be hard for you, you will sigh a breath of relief towards the end. Burdens, you didn’t know you carried will melt away and you will be free. Truly free.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 6th house, you are in the house of the healer. Those of you with these placements will be leading the charge. You are the chosen ones meant to lead this year. Your healing abilities will be amplified and heightened. Any blocks you have been experiencing will dissolve as if by magic. This is your gift. You have been doing the work, and so you will be rewarded. Do your best to sit back and enjoy the ride. Spirit is guiding your steps. Have faith and trust.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 7th house, relationships have been trying for you. This has been your soul’s chosen path so that it may experience itself through the eyes of another. Though challenging (and sometimes deeply hurtful), you have been discovering your strength, power, and resilience. Your inner lens has sharpened and you have noticed who sees you and who does not. Not all those who have eyes see… this is a key lesson for you, and you will conclude it this year, reaching a sense of inner peace and being okay with people not seeing you, for you see you. These experiences have opened your eyes wide open and removed the fog. You have clear vision and foresight. Use this gift wisely.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 8th house, this has been a trying placement for you. Wounds you didn’t know you had might have stirred deep within yet felt hidden. You can sense something is there, but you can't see anything…. This is the year where you are given sight. You will be able to see in the dark and the veil that has kept things hidden will drop. Things about you, your ancestral heritage, and maybe past lives will be revealed, all with the ultimate purpose of facilitating healing. This will be a year filled with transformational healing for you, maybe more than anyone. Embrace it. You are ready. This is the year of change you have been waiting for.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 9th house of higher learning, philosophy, and travel, random strangers might have reflected your wounds back at you. Alternatively, through their wounds, you might have caught glimpses into your own. Either way, this is a year where there will be travel involved. For many, this will be unexpected travel that is booked last minute to a site you really need to visit (spontaneous pilgrimage anyone?). For others, a destination you have been dreaming about for a long time will come into view. Pack your bags and get ready to move. Through movement, travel, and exploration, the healing you need will naturally unfold.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 10th house of vocation, social status, and reputation, you might have felt plagued by various coworkers/bosses and the likes over the past few years. This is about to change. You will be taking your faith and your path into your own hands. Maybe you will start your own business and/or venture. This new undertaking will hit some roadblocks, but this is just to test your commitment to your vision. Will you stay the course or back down and go back to your old boss? This will be a question of faith, patience, and resilience for you. Saturn is not done with you just yet. Do you have what it takes to go the distance? Only you can answer that. The end of this year will look radically different for you. Don’t be afraid to take charge and make a difference as only you can. Be your unique self and allow your talents to be seen. They will pay off.
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 11th house, similar to Chiron/Virgo in the 1st, you might have felt as though there was a hidden splinter somewhere in your back. That your friends aren’t really your friends and that you don’t really have anyone trustworthy around you. This is about to change. You will be encountering your soul tribe and meeting souls from the same star family as you (for my starseeds!). These people will truly see you, and you will wonder how you went through life without these sacred connections. These connections will help heal you. Allow them into your heart space. Open up once more to the magic and power of connection. Your soul family is who you have been waiting for. Community healing is afoot. Can you feel it?
If you have Virgo/Chiron in the 12th house, your spirit is anchored in the house of the spiritual healer. Virgo and Chiron are quite at home here and endow the native with mystical talent and ability. Though talented and gifted, you might not have always felt this way. People see the shaman, the wise woman/man in you, the healer, and yet you seem unable to see it within yourself. This hidden (perhaps seemingly broken) lens within yourself will be renewed. You will truly see who you are in the eyes of others. This shift in perspective (and in how you view yourself) will facilitate deep, transformational healing. This is the healing your soul has been waiting for (seemingly forever), so show yourself some grace and allow it to naturally occur. You don’t need to go out in search of healing, healing is here on your doorstep (literally for some of you), so embrace it. You won’t be the same as you transition into 2026.
As we conclude this foresight into 2025, we must remember that we are not only guided by the snake and the hermit, but also the number 9.
9 corresponds to Mars, and so we will be given fiery energy to burn through our wounds and blocks. We will have to wield this fire with grace, wisdom, and authority, ensuring that we illuminate others and not set the whole world ablaze. Knowing the difference will be the soul lesson for us this year. Can you create fire, provide warmth and light without burning others to the ground? Tact and diplomacy will be our guiding words.
Words can hurt, words can cut us deep. And so we must use our pen and voice wisely.
These are the energies carrying us forward into 2025. May this be a year of soul nourishing healing, sacred connection and ultimate transformation. We have earned it this.
